Good Friends and Good Food

September 29, 2008 · 5 Comments

Is there any way to spend a busy, rainy weekend than with good friends and good food?

This was the big city wide Lowell Open Studio weekend.  There were lots of people in and out and our studio was voted the one with the best food – LOL! Not a surprise to the friends that came by to visit.

On Saturday, Brian popped in before heading off to his crochet teaching gig in Billerica.  He returned later just before closing and he, Alicia and I headed off for margaritas and mexican food at La Carretta in Nashua – yummo! Also visiting Saturday were Sheepish1 from Ravelry, Amy, Lucia and Wendy from my knitting and spinning groups.  They came to hang out, spin, knit and eat.  Brian, Amy and Lucia all scored big at the Hub Mill Outlet and their 20% off sale!  I didn’t dare go and check it out.

Then on Sunday, IndigoNightOwl from Ravelry and two very dear and long time friends came by.  Lisa brought her 2 year old son.  What a cutie pie he is.  He was totally enthralled with my spinning wheel, so he ‘helped’ me spin.  He is one smart cookie as he figured out how to make the wheel go in either direction and he knew I was trying to pull the wool over his eyes because he figured out that I wasn’t putting the wool into that hole (the orifice)! LOL!  He was so cute and clever.

Just look at those brown eyes!

He promised to come visit me again soon.  We will have him spinning for real in no time I am sure!  I am totally smitten with him :)

The other thing I am smitten with is this!  I won it on ebay this weekend.  Alicia and Brian were laughing at me because I got on to ebay with my cellphone after a couple of margaritas and upped my bid.  It’s a good thing I did!

I am sooooo psyched!

Yes, I have been busy getting ready for this weekend.  With lots of new hand-dyed fibers, new Batty Batts, and some new handspun yarns.

I will be demonstrating spinning both days this weekend from 11:30am until 5:00pm in my studio at Western Avenue, A306.

There will be lots of fun and refreshments, and there will be free shuttle buses running from Western Ave to other open studio locations through out Lowell.

So come and have fun.

Artist Bio

I have a passion for anything to do with fiber and fiber arts. I am a self taught knitter, inspired to learn when I saw Kaffe Fassett’s designs and unique color combinations. Eventually I became hooked on spinning and creating my own yarns, which then led to dyeing the fiber and getting more involved with creating color harmonies inspired by nature and other dynamic combinations shat surround us every day. I love to teach spinning, and hosting fiber dye days in my studio.

Too damn busy!

September 17, 2008 · 6 Comments

Ok I admit I’m a bad blogger. But I have been busy, busy, busy!

Busy first getting back into the back to school routine. Not pretty

Busy with work as upper management once again is stupidly revamping our group for the gazillionth time and micro-managing to distraction. The only good thing was when they brought the database down hard with all of them running their micro-managed reports. That was a big ROFLMAO moment. Bad because they had to rebuild the database – and that took almost 10 hours!

And last but not least BUSY getting ready for Lowell’s 8th Annual Open Studio Weekend on September 27th thru 28th from 11:00am until 5:00pm both days. I will be participating this year. I will be demonstrating Spinning both days. And in case you don’t know I am at the Western Avenue Artist Studios in Studio A306. I am hoping to have some new carded batts for sale too and may demonstrate Drum Carding as well. So if you have some free time that weekend, stop by and say hi! There will be lots of refreshments too.

So since I have no photos to share at this time I will leave you with a meme I stole from my favorite and I am sure your favorite darlin’ Geekpixie.
