Traditional Turkey Day Fix’ins

There are certain things that are traditional for a Turkey Dinner to become Thanksgiving Dinner.

One of them is my Grandmother’s Waldorf Salad

4-5 large apples – I have used Granny smiths, Macs, and this year I am using Galas – peel, core and chop into 1″ bite sized pieces

2 cups of red grapes, cut into quarters and seeds removed

3 stalks of celery chopped

1/2 cup of raisins

1/2 cup of chopped walnuts

Toss in a bowl with the following dressing

2/3 cup of sweetened whipped cream

1/2 cup mayonnaise

Mix these two ingredients together then pour over the apples/grape/celery/raisins/walnuts and toss until everything is well coated.

Refrigerate until ready to serve – unfortunately this must be made the day you plan to serve it.

Enjoy!

  1. Grandma’s recipes are always the best. For me it’s my Grandma’s cornbread oyster dressing, it’s just not Thanksgiving without it. I hope you had a fabulous T-day!
